It's been a busy month and a bit for us!  We had a great Christmas but everyone got sick! :(  

The "I've been a good girl" Christmas went well! The Wacky Windmill

Seriously? This is incredible!

So this is a bit late and I'm very sorry for that! The "I've been a good girl" Christmas list went very well but I didn't follow through with a few of the things I had promised - including show notes! :( I'm very sorry! The holidays sort of took over and then my entire family was sick! It was horrible!

So now lets leave that behind us and talk about something deliciously yummy! The Wacky Windmill! As you know The Wacky Windmill was a wonderful sponsors of the first annual "I've been a good girl" Christmas list and gave away a choice of mixed batt or a lovely skein of yarn to the lucky winner. Just in case you were wondering the winner choose a skein of hand spun yarn! :)

The Wacky Windmill Studio is a one woman operation located in Southern Alberta run by me - Kim Ward. The name was inspired by the many wind turbines that tower over the landscape in this part of the province. I offer a variety of hand dyed fibers, and yarn. I also sell spinning batts and handspun yarns all in a fun selection of colours. I am in love with all things wool and really enjoy finding new and creative ways to dye yarn and fiber. In addition to selling fibers I love to work with them as well. I knit, crochet, spin and weave. As you may already know, fiber arts are fantastic fun and a great stress reliever. Working with fiber has become a part of my day, everyday and I love it!

I love recognizing "local" companies (she's a few provinces away but still Canadian) and was very excited when I found her etsy shoppe. I have yet to purchase anything but trust me I have a queue! :) I am planning on purchasing something to spin. I am still just learning to spin on a drop spindle, so far it's not going as well as I hoped, but that's a different blog post altogether. I am hoping to order some "nice" fiber to try rather then the cheaper stuff that came with the spindle. And trust me, The Wacky Windmill will be where I purchase it.

Oh yeah and a bit more enabling - she also has a fiber and yarn club! Do you like the TV show "Big Bang Theroy"? If so this fiber or yarn club is for you!

The Bangerino Fibre Club is for all folks who love the TV show "The Big Bang Theory." Each month The Wacky Windmill will be offering a Big Bang related colorway which will only be available to club members. All packages will contain a 4 oz. fibre braid of a merino or a merino wool blend. Packages will also contain SWAG related to the theme for the month.

Three Irish Girls Lookbook

I've been a big fan of the Three Irish Girls for a while, actually I'm more of a stocker fan. I hadn't purchased anything from them in the past but stopped by their site to take a look at all the yummy yarn goodness as often as I could. I was envious of anyone in their yarn clubs and long to one day be part of it all (I'm exaggerating a little bit)!

I have recently been giving the chance to soak in their yarn-y goodness! My wonderful husband has purchased for my birthday (on Friday) a 3 month subscription to the Three Irish girls sock yarnista club! YIPPEEE!

I'm excited! I could hardly wait to pick out my colour for this month, unfortunately it's Christmas time and that means I have presents to buy, and that means I couldn't order the second colour for myself. Trust me I wanted to!

The reason for this post though is not to talk about the sock club but to talk about the new Lookbook they have released (Volume 2). Have you seen in? You should! It's incredible! Such beautiful photography to showcase the wonderful colours of the yarn and the details and textures in each pattern! It truly is amazing! If you are looking for inspiration you've got to check it out. I'm sure you'll find something you love. I know I do each and every time I look at it. Beautiful!

Welcome to TangledKnits! I'm happy you found your way to my little place on the web. I hope you enjoy it here and check back often.

My name is K, I'm a fairly new knitter (1 year) but have been around knitting my entire life. My mom is a knitter and crocheter so I've had plenty of exposure. She use to make us, my sister and I Barbie clothes, sweaters, mittens and hats. I've always remembered her knitting so it seems only natural for me to want to knit right? Nope! I had tried years ago and just hated it. I tried to make a scarf for my sister and gave up after just a short time because it was looking hideous, I was frustrated and I felt I just wasn't meant to be a knitter.

Not until I was looking for something to do in the evening while I wasn't taking care of my kids, editing my photography clients photos, relaxing or taking me time did I pick up needles again. This time something clicked. I look back and believe strongly that I hated knitting so much because my mom knits WAY different then I do. She was trying to teach me to knit English style and I just couldn't understand it. It seemed way to hard for me to hold the needles, pass the yarn, etc. It was just to much! This time I found a few YouTube videos first, and to my surprise that there is another totally different style of holding needles and knitting - continental knitting. Ding! The light bulb went off and I haven't stopped knitting since!

So there you have it, that's me and how I started knitting! A little back story. Now onto the good stuff! Where you can find me! I love to hear from my readers/listeners (yes, listeners!) so feel free to drop my a line!

Backing up a bit, I mentioned listeners. I am hoping with any luck to start a video review/podcast thing. LOL! I'm hoping to review yarn, books, patterns, etc. and all of these will be done via video. It's a great way for you guys to see the products I review and I think it'll be TONS of fun!
